State leaders joined Cathedral Square and the non-profit Champlain Islanders Developing Essential Resources (C.I.D.E.R.) for a groundbreaking ceremony for Bayview Crossing, an affordable housing community for older adults in South Hero, on Wednesday, September 22nd, 2021.
ReArch Company serves as the construction manager on this 38,000 SF 30-unit affordable housing community targeting adults aged 55+. This space will also house the new home office for C.I.D.E.R. who provides transportation for older adults and people with disabilities and meals, wellness programs, and accessibility improvements throughout Grand Isle County.
Bayview Crossings design team of Wiemann Lamphere Architects and Buermann Engineering designed the building to consist of wood frame construction with slab on grade floor systems, engineered wood truss systems, clapboard style siding, and a combination of flat and sloped roof systems. Bayview will be solar-ready and meet Efficiency Vermont’s High-Performance Certification, with a highly efficient building envelope and advanced mechanical and electrical systems.
The project’s construction will last 11.5 months, with an occupancy target of next September 2022.
