What is a hole on a jobsite? A hole is a gap or void 2 inches or more in its least dimension, in a floor, roof, or other walking/working surface. Each employee on a walking/working surface shall be protected from tripping in or stepping into or through holes (including skylights) by covers. Covers must be capable of supporting at least twice the maximum load expected to cross over the cover, be secured when installed to prevent displacement, and be marked with the word “HOLE” or “COVER”. Check your sites for holes and protect your workers from one of the most hazards-slips, trips and falls.
